چکیده

Abstract Aim In knee replacements, restoration of mechanical alignment is essential. Patients with extra-articular deformities (EAD) pose challenges in planning replacements. We present a method, based on our experience and review literature replacement surgery, the presence coronal plane deformity tibia. Method Retrospective analysis was made six patients EAD tibia who underwent at centre. Mechanical axis considered positioning component planned perpendicular to The integrity collaterals determines need for correction. Tibial resection >15mm from medial or lateral aspect an indication corrective osteotomy prior surgery. hip ankle angle (HKA) noted. Pre-operative, post-operative clinical score, degree constraints complications were recorded. A long leg radiograph obtained. Result All had total without correction deformity. Adequate limb achieved all tibial improvement their HKA Oxford score. No re-operations required, no Conclusions Our study will help provide guidance operative decisions making deformities.

Total knee arthroplasty in patients with extra-articular deformity

Multiple acceptable options are available for the correction of distal femoral deformity associated with knee arthritis. The treatment modality should be chosen based on the extent of deformity and attention to preservation of the collateral ligaments. Surgical options range from osteotomy alone, arthroplasty with intra-articular correction, or arthroplasty with extra-articular correction. Diff...

Total Knee Arthroplasty Associate with Extra-Articular Deformity

Long-term success on total knee arthroplasty (TKA) depends mainly on restitution of the limb’s mechanical axis and appropriate balance of soft tissue, as these factors optimize the load distribution to the interfaces [1-4]. Almost all patients with osteoarthritis have some degree of articular deformity, in varus or valgus, associated or not to certain ligament instability. In most cases, conven...

Navigation-Assisted Total Knee Arthroplasty for Patients with Extra-Articular Deformity

PURPOSE Since the existence of an extra-articular deformity seriously alters the normal geometry and kinetics around the knee joint, difficulties are often encountered in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) using a standard surgical technique. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of surgical navigation system as a treatment option for osteoarthritic knees with extra-articular defo...

[Total knee replacement following high tibial osteotomy].

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY The objective of the study was to find out to what extent anatomical changes due to high osteotomy of the tibia affect knee function after total knee arthroplasty. MATERIAL Of the patients with knee osteoarthritis treated by cemented total PFC prostheses in 1995, two groups were selected. Group I consisted of 50 patients who had knee replacement without previous tibial os...
